A helicopter flying in from Port-Harcourt owned by Bristow Helicopters crashed into the Oworosoki end of the Lagos lagoon around 3pm today. A total of 12 people were reportedly on board when the helicopter went down. Speaking on the incident,  Ibrahim Farinloye, NEMA spokesman said,” We don’t know exactly what happened but we have called the Nigerian mission control centre (NIMCC) to confirm the distress signal. ” he said, adding that “ the centre will ascertain this through the COSPAS-SARSAT, also known as the beacon, which is a hi-tech satellite based equipment made by Russia, USA and Canada for search and rescue purposes. ” According to Vanguard, three of those on board have died while four injured ones were moved to the nearby Gbagada General Hospital. A policewoman attached to the Lagos State Police Command has been demoted from the rank of a Sergeant to Corporal after she was caught having sex in her car. The married woman, simply identified as Helen, was said to have been discovered making love with another man, who is not her husband inside her personal car. The incident would have been swept under the carpet, but it became an issue because the mother of four indulged in the sexual escapade at the Ikeja Police College, where she and thousands of other policemen and women went for the ‘Sergeant to Inspector’ mandatory promotion course. Rather than go back home and await her new rank of inspector, Helen left the training ground as a corporal. According to a police source, the course was just for a month. Eight members of Nigeria's most dreaded terror group, Boko Haram, have denounced their membership of the sect, in a town around Mussa in Askira/Uba Local Government Area of Borno State. According to the Chairman of the youth vigilance group in the town, Apagu Istifanus, the eight men claimed they are tired of killing innocent persons. Istifanus, who spoke with journalists on the telephone, said the eight were arrested in Mussa and after interrogations, they confessed their membership of the sect and stated their readiness to renounce their membership and rejoin their families. As quoted by  Punch , Istifanus said: “We arrested eight Boko Haram members in Mussa around 4pm on Thursday and when we interrogated them, they said they were tired, they did not want to wage Jihad again and we handed them over to the military in Mubi, Adamawa State.” He revealed that six out of the arrested members of the sect were from Gwoza town‎, the headquarters of Gwoza Local Government Area. ...
